A message from Richard Lessels, Managing Director.
"When I conceived the idea for Alasdair Methven in 2006 I had one question in my mind.
How can a company that purely exists to make a profit for its owners or shareholders possibly have the customer's best interests at the heart of all it does?
Whilst Alasdair Methven is a limited company, I did not establish it to solely obtain as much of my customers money as possible and declare an obscene profit. Whilst the company has operating costs to meet and declares a profit, its main purpose is to provide a quality service that is customer focussed and, as a result of trading, ultimately helps those in need.
To demonstrate the ethos of the company I am currently establishing an independently managed charitable trust called Ethics in Action (EiA).
Although still in the early stages, the purpose of EiA will be to provide financial support to good causes. Ideas include a percentage of profits being set aside for good causes or, assisting companies with their CSR and using profits to contribute towards voluntary work.
As mentioned, the EiA project is still in the early stages of development but I will be aiming to provide further details during the coming months.
A dedicated website has already been registered, which should be on-line shortly. The address is www.ethicsinaction.org.uk.
I will be looking to actively encourage all customers and suppliers to support the movement away from corporate greed and putting money back into good causes within UK society.
